THE UNEMPLOYMENT CLUB
Every morning, whatever the day, four friends meet in a bar to have a few beers and fix the world in their own way: criticizing and ranting against everything and everyone.
They have something in common: that they are totally opposite to each other. And they are unemployed, well ... all but one of them.

Scriptwriter, filmmaker, dramatist... David Marqués began in the most independent cinema and free of academic ties, he is the author of the multi-award-winning triptych 'Cualquiera', 'Aislados' and 'Desechos'. Then he directed for the first time a movie with a regular budget 'En fuera de juego', a spanish co-production with Argentina. In his fifth feature film, 'Gods and Dogs', he changed the most absurd comedy for an intimate drama. All his films have been awarded at Internacional Festivals.
Marqués has now made 'El Club del Paro', a film with a minimalist narrative structure, using the hilarious dialogues between its leading characters as an excuse to jump into the world of unemployed men.
He has also been the author of the script of 'Campeones', directed by Javier Fesser, the biggest commercial success (highest grossing Spanish film of the year) and critic (Goya for Best Film, Forqué for Best Film, Feroz for Best Comedy, selected by the Academy to represent Spain at the Oscars...) of Spanish cinema in 2018. For this work he has been nominated for the Goya for Best Original Screenplay, nominated for the Platinum Award for Best Screenplay, won the Alma Award for Best Comedy Screenplay and has been awarded the National Sports Award applied to the Arts and Sciences.
