The sky in my Dreams is always Gray

This short film is about the journey of this figure from one house to another. Thus begins a pilgrimage through places that materialize as an experience of solitude and search for the forgotten. Metaphor of man's need to return to the origin of everything, in which he makes himself small until he disappears, returning to the earth.

Director Biography - Eleonora Cutini

Eleonora Cutini was born in Amandola (FM), Italy, on 23 October 1997.
She graduated in Graphics and Printmaking in 2020 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Urbino
She is currently attending a Master’s degree of Contemporary Painting and Visual Arts at the Academy of Fine Arts in Urbino.

She grew up in the Marche hills of Fermo (Italy), not far from the Apennine chain of the Sibillini Mountains, inherithing through family memory the love for folk tales and customs of their land of origin.
Guided by dreamlike visions, her artistic research is characterized by the construction of imaginary landscapes inhabited by familiar elements, but at the same time perturbing and steeped in historical and personal memory. The repetition of branches, poles, ropes, clouds, compose a nostalgic universe, a metaphor more or less of unpleasant memories. There is no preference in the use of the media as the latter it becomes a pure instrument of representation and narration, nothing else.

Director Statement

Man builds himself through the environment that surrounds him. It is through the experience of living in places that the individual manages to shape their memory. However, there are places we don't remember of having visited, but of which we feel nostalgia; an example of this is the maternal uterus.
Thus arises the need to want to travel backwards, in a time where humans did not exist, in order to know the origin and truth of the soul, of man, of faith. And this is where artistic creation takes over, where the representation of places is filtered through the dream experience, in which the human figure is slowly lost, shrinking, until it disappears. There is no hegemony among my mediums, as the technique used becomes a simple tool that has the sole purpose of making the concept underlying the work tangible. What matters is the landscape that becomes concrete as an experience of solitude and search of the forgotten, inhabited by inhospitable houses without doors or windows, fenced roads, intertwined shrubs, hills and watery mountains. The poles, the last anthropomorphic-like presence within these smoky scenarios, take on fetishes and sacred values.
