In rural China, a large number of women end their lives every year by drinking pesticides and hanging themselves.
According to the China Women's Federation, out of the 270 million families in China, nearly 157,000 women commit suicide every year due to marital problems, which is a shocking figure, with domestic violence and lack of fidelity to the marriage being the main reasons for the suicides.

Unfortunately, Jin Keting is one of those cold numbers.

On 7 March 2011, there was a diary book detailing the ups and downs of Jin Keting's marriage to her husband Huang Kai. It is also a record of a young, beautiful girl's journey towards despair in her marriage.

When Jin Keting's daughter grows up, she travels to an island on the eastern seaboard, where she meets Li Huan, who also experiences the damage caused by her marriage.
Li Huan's wife's betrayal and take away the family's savings for many years, Li Huan suffered such a heavy blow, so that he did not have the courage to live on. Li Huan chose to bury himself in a grave at the top of the island to end this cowardly half-life, but this way of ending life needs the help of others, but no one is willing to help with this legally liable matter. Li Huan eventually spends some of the only money he has on him and hires a wedding band to give him a grand funeral send-off ceremony to say goodbye to everything in the world.

As Jin Keting slept next to Huang Kai's body, and as Li Huan slept in the grave pit of the island facing the mountains and the sea, they prayed, ‘In the next life, my marriage, solid as a mountain. My life, calm as water.’
