Director Biography - Francisca Magalhães, Joana Tato Borges, Maria Canela

Francisca Magalhães (Porto, 1994) is graduated in Communication and Multimedia Design and has completed a master’s degree in Cinema and Audiovisual in UCP - Universidade Católica Portuguesa. Working since 2015 in Serralves Foundation as a graphic designer. Within the scope of the master’s degree, she was the co-director of “Mundo na Mão” along with Joana Tato Borges and Maria Canela. This documentary was nominated to Best Film School - Oporto International Film Festival FANTASPORTO (2019), 13º MIFEC - Oporto Internacional Film School Festival (2019) and PrimeirOlhar award - Encontros de Cinema de Viana (2019). Recently she was the co-diretor and scriptwriter of the short-film “There’s Someone on Earth” which world premiere was in 27º Curtas Vila do Conde - The Take One! Competition and it has won Caixa Geral de Depósitos Award for best artistic project of Universidade Católica Portuguesa.

Joana Tato Borges (Porto, 1995) is graduated in Multimedia from ESMAD – Escola Superior de Media Artes e Design and has completed a master’s degree in Cinema and Audiovisual in UCP - Universidade Católica Portuguesa. Working since 2018 in Mart.e as a videographer, photographer and motion designer. She was the co-director of “Mundo na Mão” along with Francisca Magalhães and Maria Canela. This documentary was nominated to Best Film School - Oporto International Film Festival FANTASPORTO (2019), 13º MIFEC - Oporto Internacional Film School Festival (2019) and PrimeirOlhar award - Encontros de Cinema de Viana (2019). Recently she was the co-diretor, and Cinematographer (DOP) of the short-film “There’s Someone on Earth” which world premiere was in 27º Curtas Vila do Conde - The Take One! Competition and it has won Caixa Geral de Depósitos Award for best artistic project of Universidade Católica Portuguesa.

Maria Canela (Porto, 1995) is graduated in Corporate communication from ISCAP - Instituto Superior de Contabilidade e Administração do Porto and has completed a master’s degree in Cinema and Audiovisual in UCP - Universidade Católica Portuguesa. She was the co-director of “Mundo na Mão” along with Joana Tato Borges and Francisca Magalhães. This documentary was nominated to Best Film School - Oporto International Film Festival FANTASPORTO (2019), 13º MIFEC - Oporto Internacional Film School Festival (2019) and PrimeirOlhar award - Encontros de Cinema de Viana (2019).
