Theresa Maria Schlichtherle is a director and interdisciplinary artist from the Allgäu region in Germany. She studied theatre studies, musicology, and Italian philology at LMU Munich, and Theatre and Performing Arts at IUAV Venice. While still a student, she worked as an assistant director at several opera houses, including the Bavarian State Opera, and created her first short film ipadriedio – My Fathers and I, which received the Premio Giuria Giovane at the Asolo Art Film Festival. From 2019 to 2024, she was part of the collective Extragarbo, where she co-developed performances, small-scale festivals, and workshops. That same year, she became a co-founder of the performance collective Call Monica, which explores the patriarchal gaze as a cultural construct and power device. Call Monica has presented work at the Santarcangelo Festival, the Istituto Svizzero in Milan, and developed workshops such as “Naked Lobsters: Undisciplined Muses” for the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice. In 2024, she directed Lady Magnesia at the Bavarian State Opera. Her first feature-length film, Children of the Revolution (fucked), is currently unreleased and preparing for its festival premiere.
