There Is Justice Under The Sea
Long before the existence of positive law, the community in the village of Kian had already chosen Batuku Adat as a legal process in upholding justice. The Batuku Adat process (Customary Dive) mediates between two conflicting parties by requesting the disputing parties to grant authority to the divers appointed by the traditional leaders. In the dispute resolution process, two divers will be asked to dive while holding a stone. If one of the divers surfaces first, the party remaining underwater is considered the winner of the dispute.
