Director Statement

“I call ‘There Goes Stacy’ ‘The Karate Kid’ without the karate. It’s my love letter to 80s teen films and John Hughes films. I’ve been wanting to make an 80s movie for a while. ‘There Goes Stacy’ is the culmination of my filmmaking sensibilities. Although this film is set almost 40 years ago, it is a simple yet effective story about the universal themes of connection and rekindling relationships along with young love and appreciating someone for who they really are. These concepts are still relevant today, especially for younger people. Losing old friends because of growing apart with social cliques is heartbreaking, which is something everyone can relate to."
