I only had 10 days to prepare the shooting when I heard about this performance.
Due to quarantine and other reasons, the shooting period is only 28 days.
The original intention of shooting this documentary was that in 2020, when the epidemic was raging and theaters were closed all over the world, I heard that nine opera singers from 7 different countries would fly to China to participate in a singing performance, I thought it was an impossible task.
There are two Grammy-nominated singers in this film, and the coaches are some of the top artists on the opera stage, but I didn't know who they were until the end of filming. I just saw that no matter which country, what level of art world, I only see “we, us,”, no “me, I,”. “We” get together create warm atmosphere like when we in the family, and the music can break any block between people and the world.
This is what I'm trying to express through this film.
