Director Biography - Alfonso Burgos Risco

Alfonso Burgos Risco was born in Toledo (Spain) in 1984. He studied Fine Arts at the University of Murcia where he enjoyed a scholarship at the Film School of the National University of Córdoba, Argentina. He received his doctorate Cum Laude with the thesis "Fictions constructors de reality. The documentary animation film" in 2015. He has worked as a professor at the University of Murcia and is currently practicing at the University of Zaragoza.

Director Statement

The project is led by Alfonso Burgos Risco, professor of the Painting Area of Fine Arts in ​​the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the University of Zaragoza, director of the documentary “The Memory of the Hands. Echoes of the pedagogical legacy of C. Freinet in Murcia ”produced by the University of Murcia in 2015 and which received nine international awards, among them, a documentary feature film winner 2015 at the Hollywood International Independent Documentary Awards, the Award of Merit at The IndieFest Film Awards or the Silver Award in Documentary Category at the California Film Festival 2017. At the national level, the project was recognized with the 2016 Manuel Bartolomé Cossío National Award by the Spanish Society for the Study of Historical-Educational Heritage (SEPHE).
Burgos also directs the documentary project "Pedro Cano - Travel Notebooks" produced by the University of Murcia in 2016, receiving 14 international awards, including the award for Best Trailer at the United International Film Festival in New York, the award for Outstanding Merit for Narrative Talent at the Docs Without Borders Film Festival or Emerging Artist Award from the FilmMakers Global Trailer Festival.
Other projects directed by Burgos have been the documentary short film “S.A. Portrait of a Suburb "(2016) and" The border that unites. The origin of the Lands of 'Los Manuel' ”(2019), produced by the University of Murcia in collaboration with the History Congress for the 775th Anniversary of the Creation of the Border between the Kingdoms of Valencia and Murcia (1244-2019). Burgos has directed and produced the series "Challenges Program - Sum of Talents" in its 2019 and 2020 editions for the Center for Orientation and Information for Employment (COIE) and the series with the recently deceased Mr. José Molina Molina, former president of the Council of Transparency of the Region of Murcia, within the framework of the IRIS project for transparency and youth participation.
