Anumala , a tale of two daughters

Anumala is a story of two daughters, Anuradha and Nirmala. Anuradha is a young girl who serves in Nepal army while also training teenage girls about self-defense in different schools of Kathmandu. She is returning to her mother's home in Sindhupalchowk, a district in eastern Nepal. As she reaches her home, she meet a guest family of 3, a mother and a newly married couple. The young bride, Nirmala is startled to know that even females can become army.
The next day, Anumala knows that the bride is being taken away to India to sell, while her fake husband and mother-in-law are human trafficking partners, pretending to be mother and son.
Later, Anuradha admits Nirmala in a school in Kathmandu where she continues her studies and also excels in self-defense training.

Director Biography - Bibhu Poudel , Bishal Dotel

Bibhu Poudel is a film maker based in Kathmandu. He has been involved in film making as an independent film maker for the past 6 years. He has worked as an assistant director, art director, production designer and recently as a producer and director for national short films, feature films and even a few international feature films.

Bishal Dotel recently graduated from Oscar International College with a Bachelors of Arts in film degree. He worked as an assistant director in Nationally acclaimed film Bulbul.

Director Statement

When Anuradha Koirala won CNN Heroes awards, she was hailed for saving thousands of women from being trafficked to India and other countries. Yet it also highlighted that there are thousand others who could not be rescued. This movie is dedicated to all the young girls and women from Nepal who become victims of human trafficking and those who fought against human trafficking.
