From the early days of majoring in Music at Xin'an County Fourth Art High School to mastering Film and Television Performance at Zhengzhou Normal University, Yabin Wang's cinematic journey has been fueled by a relentless passion for the art of film.
After showcasing his prowess at the Henan Song and Dance Theatre as both actor and stage supervisor, Yabin transitioned through roles as a Film and Television Actor and then a Casting Director. 2012 saw him star in the acclaimed historical drama "Xue Pinggui and Wang Baochuan." By 2016, he was both starring in the urban romantic drama "Mulan Mom" and serving as the executive producer for "If Paris is Unhappy."
Despite these achievements, Yabin's aspiration to delve deeper into cinema led him to the Beijing Film Academy for further studies in direction. In recent years, he's been at the helm of projects such as the 2020 urban drama "Happiness Will Knock Again" and the 2022 financial thriller "Leverage," where he showcased his versatility both in front of and behind the camera.
Today, Yabin Wang stands as a stalwart in the film industry, proving that with determination, one can indeed live their cinematic dream.
Set in the '90s layoff wave, the film shows a child's rebellion and quest amid harsh education. His journey is more an awakening than escape, seeking self-worth. After adventures, he reconciles at his grandmother's grave; his return marks not dream's end, but maturity. As a director, I aim for the film to evoke that era and inspire viewers to contemplate bravery and dreams, encouraging pursuit of one's "hero," despite challenges.
