Carlos Ormeño Palma is a Queer Peruvian filmmaker and alumnus of La Fémis - Université d'été, Berlinale Talents, Oberhausen Seminar and Talents Buenos Aires. His passion for filmmaking arose from his family memories and his identity.
Since he started making films, Carlos has produced short films combining different genres of filmmaking, mostly experimenting with documentary and fiction. "The Distance of Time" is his first Experimental/Fiction short.
Carlos is currently developing his first feature film, “The Scent of Walls,” developed with the support of Cine Qua Non Lab in Mexico. In 2020, he won the Peruvian National Fund for Short Films for his second short film, "The Weight of Air."
This is the force of identity overcoming the silent oppression of a city and its inhabitants. A story that slowly encounters sorrow and love as the sea gently touches the shore in the distance.
I believe in cinema as a form of power whose voice goes beyond silence and darkness. Because in places where it is least expected, there is hope. This film seeks to be a call to togetherness, a means to acknowledge the emptiness we carry inside, and above all, to understand the weight of our existence within the end of life.
