The boy who lost his eyes(Pale Fire)

This tale is about a boy who lives in a colorful world but feels that something is wrong and therefore searches for answers to his questions.

One day, the boy's father disappears. He doesn’t know what to do, so goes into the forest, where he finds a strange raven-man. He gives the boy a choice: to remain in the world of fantasy or to see reality as it is. The creature shows that the boy has no eyes, then holds out a hand with two eyeballs.
The boy takes his eyes, but, unable to bear what he saw, immediately pokes it out.
