Writer Biography - Robin Maxwell, Albert Wayne Elliott

Robin Maxwell has been writing and directing since she was a young child. She frequently created plays and performances with her younger siblings and made her parents be the audience. She roped her whole family into entering a skit in a church talent show, and they won. This success encouraged her love of making plays, and later movies. After graduating from college, she has led several youth drama groups, writing and directing short and full-length plays, such as “Elf in a Box”, “Wonders of His Love”, and “Prodigals”. Together with her middle school students, she also wrote the short films “Fatty Walrus”, “Eugene and the Princess”, and “Tony and the Tiger”, among others. As well as teaching theater at the middle school, she has taught Spanish, English Language Arts, Business, and World Cultures. A happily married mother of nine, she loves spending time with Jesus, hanging out with her family, teaching, writing, directing, and producing–both live productions and film. She has truly found her passion in writing for the performing arts and hopes to continue writing and directing for the rest of her life.

Writer Statement

For my first feature-length screenplay, it seemed fitting to write about someone I know well. My dad, Wayne Elliott, is an amazing picture of the Father-Heart of God. His redemption story parallels that of the Biblical prodigal son, and since his redemption, he's been able to draw others toward redemption as well, including his own children. His unconditional love for us as we journeyed down our own "prodigal" paths showed us a real-life depiction of God's unending love. Using many of the stories my dad has shared with us over the years, I've tried to write his Redemption story into a movie that will speak to the hearts of many of us "prodigals".
