The Women's Project

The Women's Project is a film by women, about women. The cast and crew is made of college undergraduate students across Southern California including UCLA, USC, Chapman, and FIDM. From the cast, to the creative team, to the production crew, everyone involved with this project identified with womanhood and wanted to share in telling this story about the different perspectives regarding what it means to them. This project celebrates the in-betweens- recognizing that each woman's experience is completely unique and deserves to be treated as such, while simultaneously honoring the similarities and parallels so many of us long to see spotlighted. A central belief to this project is that there is no one way to be a woman, but in our differences lies our greatest strength. There is a unity to be found amongst women, even though we may be dealing with or celebrating different aspects of our identity. To us, being a woman is simply undefinable, and that is what makes it so exciting. Every woman is on her own unique journey to finding herself and her place in this world, hence why our team needed to be full of so many creative individuals carrying their own special story. In order to make a film about what it means to be a woman, we needed women who each lived their own definition of the term. Together, we explored and felt through these beliefs, and these experiences fused and melded to make The Women's Project. Though different women with different perspectives, the way the stories intertwine reveal truths about the universal experience of being a woman. We are so excited to share these stories about women, by women, with you.
