The Witch and the Ottoman
It’s the year 1699 and the Ottoman Empire is raging through Europe. TAHIR, an Ottoman soldier gets captured on the battlefield and is forced to become a Christian. Meanwhile the people are starving. The young Catharina is held responsible for the spoiled harvest and, accused of being a witch, sentenced to death. Tahir comes to rescue her before she gets killed but both of them are now being hunted by the raging LORD WILHELM and his soldiers. A fight for love, tolerance and power begins.

Sebastian Mattukat was born in Berlin, 1987. He received his high school diploma in 2006, before gaining his first filmmaking experience as an assistant editor and then editor working on music videos and corporate films. Since 2009, Sebastian has focused on his work as a director. In 2012 he directed the post-apocalyptic short film „The Rising“, which was screened at SITGES, the LA Screamfest and the Shnit among other places and his short film „Comtesse“ (2013) premiered at the Landshut Kurzfilmfestival.
As a commercial director, he has worked with Foodora, Toom and Bertelsmann among many others. „Erwartungen“ represents his feature debut as writer, director and producer.
