Director Biography - Julia Huffman

Julia Huffman is an award winning independent documentary filmmaker. Her film work focuses on social and environmental issues including her recent films about wolves.

Her feature directorial debut, Medicine of the Wolf was endorsed by Dr. Jane Goodall and won the Grand Jury award at the Arizona International Film Festival, the Best of Festival and Audience Choice award at the Minneapolis International Film Festival and the Audience Choice award at the G2 Green Earth Film Festival in Los Angeles.

Her documentary and advocacy work has been featured on NBC, PBS, ABC, Huffington Post, and National Geographic. Recently she was named a “change maker” in the Bethany College alumni magazine and was asked to speak about the value of apex predators on the TEDx stage in Fargo, North Dakota.

In addition to completing two short films with Sierra Club Colorado, she is currently midway in production on Mother Daughter Earth. The documentary is about her mother, Beth Little, who was one of the first female computer programmers in the 60’s who went on to build her own home in rural West Virginia and live much like a pioneer. Julia reflects in the film about her mother’s influence and how she dedicated much of her life to advocating for wilderness including many years volunteering with the West Virginia Sierra Club.

We created this film in association with Sierra Club Colorado with an overall mission to call on Americans to be guardians for the few remaining wolves left in the lower 48 states.
