Director Biography - Vladimir Popov

Vladimir Popov is an author who works in the field of commercial illustration and sequential storytelling. For the past 12 years he was hired mostly in the role of COLORIST by majority of publishers in the USA (Disney, Lucas Film, Dark Horse, Z2 Comics, Mad Cave Studios, Boom Studios, Dynamite Entertainment, Cartoon Network, Heavy Metal, Scout Comics, Take 2 Interactive / Double Take, Top Cow, Image Comic, Stela, Vault Comics, IDW Publishing, Wired Magazine, Adaptive Studios, and others), and Europe (Soleil Prod, Glénat Editions, Le Feltrinelli).

Currently on Ph. D. studies of transdisciplinary arts and media at the Faculty of Media and Communications in Belgrade, Serbia, in the process of writing a doctoral dissertation on the subject of American Superhero Comics.

He colored over 8500 pages and collaborated on licensed titles such as Star Wars: Qui Gon official prequel, Clive Barker's Hellraiser and Next Testament, Robocop, Maze Runner extended universe and film adaptation, Steed and Mrs. Peel (by episodes of the British TV series), Highlander movie franchise, Noir, Pathfinder board game, Cartoon Network's Adventure Time, Bravest Warriors, Munchkin & Amazing World of Gumball, WWE Undertaker Original Graphic Novel and other projects in the world of film and comics. He has also collaborated on Graphic Novels related to the music industry such as Machine Gun Kelly's Hotel Diablo, Ice Nine Kills, Hilltop Hoods, Yungblud, etc.

He collaborated on creator-owned titles such as Starship Down (Co-owner), Where Monsters Lie, Fearscape, Relics of Youth, Vlad, Port of Earth (soon to be TV series at Amazon), Sand + Bone, Rome West, Control, The Returning, Darklight, Americatown, Freelancers, and others.

In 2019, he was hired by the French Zoo organization and Glenat publishing company to work on a comic book dedicated to the endangered species of rhinoceros in Africa.

He attended New York Comic Con, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2022, and 2023 where he had booth signings for Storm King Comics, Take 2, Image Comics, Dynamite, and other publishers, meetings, promotions, and interviews.

From 2013 to the present, he participated in collective exhibitions at various comic book festivals across Eastern Europe.

He is also a member of USUS- Comic Book Artists Association of Serbia since 2012.

Director Statement

As a Comic Book Artist, I always fancied the idea of making/directing an actual film, and this little project was my first take on the wonderful world of Filmmaking. :)
