Director Statement

Earlier this year I was on track to wrap up two short films that I had spent the better part of two years scripting and producing. Just before completion however, both shorts were suddenly sidelined by the COVID crisis; a tragic turn of events both for myself and the crew who had spent countless hours in production limbo.

"The Vision" was born out of the need to pick up the pieces and push on into a new world that could use a moment of relief amidst the daily, international turmoil and stress. I wanted to produce this short in such a way that it was easy, fun, and meaningful for the crew involved. When I came up with the character of "Kim" and started imagining her futuristic landscape, the concept felt true to quarantine yet also distant enough to provide a bit of escape.

I think viewers of "the Vision" will find it honest and simple. It is my hope that it speaks to the ways in which humanity perseveres, even when the world changes around us.
