Director Statement

As a director, I prefer narratives. I am passionate in creating stories and is always trying to use them to touch people’s inner feelings. In my understanding, all stories are about mankind, even the story of animals also insinuates about man, so people is the core of a story. I believe that in a good story, we need to portray different parts of a character’s humanity. I am interested in exploring the real emotion and intention that hide underneath the surface.
In “The Unbound", the story is adapted from a real-life experience. I originally wanted to use this story to show how a girl who lives in an environment she doesn't like and is not satisfied with is, how she struggles, fights against others, and finally grows up. The film is called "The Unbound", but it does not refer to the shackles in the external form, but comes from the girl's own definition of everything she is subjected to as the unbound. She thinks her mother's control of her is the restraint of imprisonment, but it all comes from love.
This is a beginning of my filmmaking. The fetters and emotions produced by the relationship between people is what I would like to further explore in filmmaking.
