Ray Nomoto Robison is a hapa American currently living in Oregon. Upon graduating from Film School, Robison packed his Pontiac Sunbird and headed to fame and fortune in Hollywood. 48 hours later he was on his way back to his hometown in Montana. The big city life didn't fit him. After bouncing around a number of media related jobs in Montana and Washington he landed a producer/director position with television station in Southern Oregon. That was 36 years ago and Robison has been there ever since, making movies around his "day-job" and believing that leaving Hollywood after just 48 hours was one of the best decisions of his life.
Physical aggression seems so common place among the human race. Whether it be war or bullying on the schoolyard, it exists. We love to see the aggressor defeated but I am amazed that we deem the way to stop physical aggression is with more physical aggression. If "The Trunk" were to fit the mold of a blockbuster major motion picture, the unknown skill of the protagonist would be some martial arts skill and she would beat up aggressor and the crowd would cheer at his defeat. As someone who is small in stature I've rarely been one who has viewed physicality as a way to stop anyone who is physically aggressive to me. I prefer finding other means to stop the aggressor. This is the motivation for my film "The Trunk". "Fight fire with fire" is a well known expression. I guess my preference is to fight fire with water.
