The Tribute

A farewell 'party' of two - a thirty-year-old man battling with his sense of self and unable to differentiate himself wholly as a drag artist, and his mom, a former opera singer with a fatal illness. This night of exposure and recollection will take them both to where they longed to be.

Writer Statement

In their art Maksim is focusing on queer representation, por-
traying unconventional characters and inconvenient social
themes. Their main source of inspiration is queer art of the
XXth century and their own childhood filled with both joy and
confusion.

Maksim states that writing “The Tribute” was a very person-
al experience for them as a queer kid, and it brought them
back to their childhood days, commemorating moments their
mother would get dolled up for dinner, picking out her lip-
stick and strapping on her high heels.

‘This tale is about commitment and devotion, coming and
departing. It is a love letter to those strong female figures
who provided me with all the knowledge I have acquired.’
