Kenneth, a homeless man in Yong City, embarked on a desperate search for his missing brother Leo, leading him to a free food distribution center. Unbeknownst to him, a sinister conspiracy by a doctor named Phoebe unfolded, aiming to exploit and eliminate homeless individuals for her macabre artworks. Tragically, Kenneth became a victim of this plot, losing his life in the process.

Director Biography - Kexin Feng

Kexin Feng is a Chinese-born film production student residing in Sydney, with a strong focus on film editing and production. Having grown up in the picturesque coastal areas of southern China, Kexin graduated from UNSW's Media Arts program in 2021, where she spent three years specializing in Moving Images and Sound. Currently, Kexin is pursuing her Master of Moving Image at USYD and has already made significant contributions to the film industry. She volunteered at the prestigious Sydney Film Festival and participated in a TikTok competition in Cannes in April 2022. Additionally, Kexin served as the sound engineer for UTS' graduate student production, Knife, in September. The Tramp is her first directorial work filmed in Sydney.

Director Statement

By delving into the narrative of Kenneth and his search for his missing brother Leo, we aim to provoke empathy and raise awareness about the struggles faced by the homeless community. We wanted to challenge societal indifference and bring attention to the often-overlooked circumstances that lead individuals to homelessness.

The inclusion of a conspiracy orchestrated by the character Phoebe serves as a metaphor for the exploitation and dehumanization of the homeless population. Through her character, we aim to shed light on the darker aspects of our society, where some individuals prioritize personal gain and artistic pursuits over human lives.

Through our visual storytelling, we strive to capture the raw emotions and stark realities of homelessness, urging viewers to reconsider their preconceived notions and encouraging them to take action. Our hope is that this film will ignite conversations, inspire empathy, and ultimately contribute to the ongoing efforts to address the issue of homelessness in our society.
