Director Statement

I'm an artist and an escapist. There's nothing better, for me, than escaping into an epic story full of compelling characters and high-stakes adventure! Making a film combines all the art that I love - music, composing, CGI, special effects, cinematography, story-writing. I knew that my first film would be a huge challenge - especially considering the country we live in. There's barely an industry here, and no soft money, so to speak, no grants and government media funds to give a helping hand. We had to come up with the funding from scratch, on our own, no credit. But shooting here has also been incredibly rewarding: we got amazing locations and a committed cast and crew who have just gone above and beyond with me to make this film special. I've never had so much fun in my life, and I've never been so challenged. It's been a long road, but we're here. I think audiences are going to find our characters unpretentious and very compelling. The fictional city the story is set in - Stonelake City - is something we've created. We've shot pieces and done CGI and all sorts and it's created this other world which is something really hard to do on a low budget and in a first film. I'm proud of what we've achieved and just hope everyone loves it like we do!
