Kevin Rabas leads the poetry and scriptwriting tracks at Emporia State. His films have shown across Kansas and Missouri, and beyond, including “Strawberry Hill Fight Club,” a selection for the IFC KC film festival, the Kansas International Film Festival, and No Coast Film Festival. He has sixteen books, including Lisa’s Flying Electric Piano, a Nelson Book Award Winner and Kansas Notable Book. Rabas served as the Poet Laureate of Kansas, 2017-2019.
A local Emporia filmmaker, Kevin Rabas works to capture Kansas stories both in short documentary and dramatic films. In this case, Rabas focuses on a regional story that also has potential wider universal impact.
