The Stray Cats of the Dead Zone

The main protagonists are the cats that are roaming freely around the Buffer zone of Nicosia. What started as a topographical exploration, turned into an anthropozoological documentation of the cats which embody the chaotic nature of the area; whilst also being the odd yet peculiar symbol of anarchy in the island. The lack of human activity in the deadzone has enabled the cat population to thrive, covering the remnants of the prolonged nationalism, leaving us with a tad bit of hope. Welcome to Lefkosa’s dead zone, where the prowling of the stray cats is louder than the human hurly-burly.
