The Stones and Us
Since the 18th century there have been stories about a city buried on top of a hill in Terroso. In the 20th century its ruins were unearthed, revealing one of the most emblematic settlements of the Castro Culture – a pre-Roman culture endemic to the Iberian northwest.
'The Stones and Us' is the search for life in an apparently extinct landscape, where past and present seem to converge.

João Cunha and Maria Cândida graduated from ESAP in 2019, where they first started working together on various projects.
They made 'The Stones and Us' during a 10-day Art Residency Program in Póvoa de Varzim while pursuing a film masters program at ESMAD.
'The Stones and Us' (Nós e as Pedras), was crafted as a poetic and ecletic homage to a location and its history. A portrait of the depth and mystery of a place that facilitates a connection with the past.
Paying attention to the people who seek Cividade de Terroso, the film is also an observation of the life that fills the place with its own stories.
