THE STITCH is an Indian Silent film by ASIYA ZAHOOR, It's a film about a Kashmiri Muslim girl's struggle and ambitions.
Her struggle to overcome social norms amidst political violence while seeking refuge in art.
Art is supposed to be free from all sorts of barriers but what happens if you are born and brought up in a place that deals with violence on an everyday basis. (The Muslim majority
Kashmir Valley also called Indian Administered Kashmir, is one of the most heavily militarised regions In the world.
It continues to be an armed line for India and Pakistan as both countries claim it.)

Director Biography - ASIYA ZAHOOR

Asiya Zahoor is an Assistant Professor of Literature at Baramulla College, Kashmir. The body of her work may be grouped around broad thematic clusters such as the politics of place, transnational and diasporic studies, politics of the literature and the position of marginalized groups in literature. She has authored two books, in which she has investigated themes of diaspora and language politics in South-Asian and Caribbean Literature. Currently, she is working on a book investigating the representation of Kashmir in literature and cinema.
