Director Biography - Yuval Shapira

Yuval graduated from the prestigious film programs: Berlinale Talent Sarajevo, Zurich Film Festival Academy, and European Short Pitch. He's a member of the Brooklyn Film Collective, and holds graduate degrees in filmmaking and visual anthropology.

Director Statement

Israel boasts the highest birth rate in the OECD, coupled with substantial public funding for IVF and childbirth-related incentives. It is also the only country - besides North Korea - that has a mandatory army service for women. This paradoxical state, caring for children and, at the same time, steering them toward military service. The film is a commentary on the Israeli DNA, defined by an entangled triangle of parenthood, childhood, and military
