Director Statement

As a recent graduate from the School of Cinema at San Francisco State University, creating this film has been a journey of understanding, revelation, and profound respect. My academic years immersed me in the power of storytelling, and with this film, I aim to create discussions about the intricacies of identity, loyalty, and the often-painful crossroads of cultural allegiances. Baptiste's story, for me, is not just a historical account, but a reflection of the complexities that many still grapple with today. In capturing the visceral realities of his duality, I hope to spark conversations about our own relationships with heritage and belonging. My academic roots have grounded me in theory, but this film, my debut, is my heartfelt contribution to the ever-evolving narrative of America.
