Steven Swancoat is a 32 year old board certified Ob/Gyn, artist and first time filmmaker living in New York City. In 2010, Swancoat moved to New York City as a medical student where his father encouraged him to “give art a try”. Never before did he imagine how his life would change.
In just 6 years as a self-taught painter, he has had over a 20 solo, group and international exhibitions, made over 500 paintings, featured on Bravo Television and magazines and has raised over $24,000 for various charities through his artwork. Notably, Swancoat hosted an art show & fundraiser at Susan Sarandon’s Ping Pong Club SPiN.
All this while simultaneously finishing medical school, and completing a four year Ob/Gyn residency program at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY. After wraping filming of “The Singer” Swancoat, successfully passed board certification in Obstetrics & Gynecology.
While flying home from an art exhibition in Hong Kong, Swancoat found the inspiration to write and direct his first short film;
“I watched all these short films on the plane, they were all great stories but felt they lacked cool cinematography or music, the next night the entire film of The Singer flashed right before going to be”.
Currently Swancoat is working on writing and shooting his first feature film which he plans to shoot this summer in Michigan, as well as continuing to deliver babies, and exhibit his paintings and artwork.
