The Shapes I See

The world is full of imagery that mold our experiences. There’s beauty on T.V. cartoons, in the interplay between curves and lines, and even in the randomness logos found in a vintage t-shirt tag. Similarly, our awareness of life and dreams may be influenced by the mental - shapes - and social patterns we’ve learned to recognize, from the most familiar to the unknown abstract in which we embody our imagination and thoughts.

“The Shapes I See” first Jose’s solo exhibition of paintings suggest the viewer to connect with the nature of perception itself, contemplating a compilated body of work in this exhibition where we find the artist exploring some of his intricated data remembrances.

The Shapes I See is also a short documentary film shot on 16mm, directed by Gabriel Duque, a Miami-based filmmaker from Venezuela. The film portrays his close friend, Jose Andrade, documenting his journey through poetry and his first solo art exhibition in Brooklyn, NY.
