The Shadows of Magellan
An experimental film based on the footage of a performative dance art installation at Sandtor harbour in Hamburg, Germany.
The film and performance are based on a narration by Antonio
Pigafetta about the discovery of the Strait of Magellan.
"The Shadows of Magellan" is part of Per Pegelow's project series P.AU.LA. It addresses the connection between digitalisation, globalisation, and the current change in the global climate.
The film visualises five stages of this journey of discovery:
• Preparation of the journey of discovery / A preparação da expedição
• Transatlantic caravel voyage / A viagem transatlântica das caravelas
• Romantic interlude on the Rio Bravo / Interlúdio romântico no Rio Bravo
• Increasing aggression / Agressões crescentes
• Triumph of the explorers / Triunfo dos exploradores
