The Serpent's Skin
The film follows two young women, who form a romantic bond after discovering they have supernatural powers. Their insecurities unknowingly release a demon, which possesses one of their exes and begins feeding on their friends. As the bodies pile up, it becomes up to the women to face their pasts and stop the growing evil.

Alice Maio Mackay is a 20-year-old transgender award-winning filmmaker. Her latest feature film 'Carnage for Christmas' recently had its Canadian premiere at Inside Out a prestigious queer film festival and it will also be playing Frameline (San Fran, USA) in June, which is the largest and longest-running queer film festival in the world. The film was edited by Emmy nominated filmmaker Vera Drew, and co written, produced and directed by Maio Mackay.
Outside of her own creative projects, Alice recently was in the writers' room for Aunty Donna's production company, on a new queer horror comedy show. She was also a producers assist on a telecanada funded feature film, working in Vancouver for the last month.
Her fourth feature 'Satranic Panic' premiered at SXSW Sydney (AUS) in October. Her third queer horror feature 'T Blockers' which features performances from Etcetera Etcetera, Cassie Workman, and Joni Ayton-Kent had its world premiere in April 2023 at Salem Horror Fest (Boston, USA). As well as screening at Outfest (LA, USA), Fright Fest (UK), Fantasia (Canada), Popcorn Frights (Florida, USA), and Reeling Fest (Chicago, USA). At Outfest, she won the Emerging Talent Award.
Her debut feature film SO VAM, featuring stars BenDeLaCreme and Etcetera Etcetera from Drag Race, premiered at Salem Horror Fest 2021, winning awards, and critical praise. The film is a SHUDDER exclusive and was released in August 2022. In 2022, she directed and co-wrote her second queer horror feature film, BAD GIRL BOOGEY, featuring a cameo from horror icon Bill Mosley, it had its US premiere at Popcorn Frights Film Festival and its Australian premiere at Monster Fest. It was distributed by Umbrella Pictures in Australia & Dark Star in North America, where it had a limited theatrical run & was later released on physical media in both Aus & the US.
Alice was also a guest writer for season 3 of the American radio series IT LISTENS FROM THE RADIO. She was also on set for the Emmy-nominated series 'First Day.' As well as working on the outreach program for Netflix's The Dreamlife of Georgie Stone. She has a unique, unforgettable style and is an exciting new voice.
