Director Statement

“The Seashell” is a light hearted drama which explores climate change through an abstract conversation between a young girl (Lauren) and Mother nature’s son (Ricky).

It’s something outrageous but at the same time, relatable. Climate change is an important and urgent issue that we as a species needs to address. The problem is that it’s a rather big issue and it’s hard to comprehend. “The Seashell” explores this in the most simplest and heartwarming way, that even a child can understand - something is wrong with our planet and we need to do something to fix it. A simple story told through the lens of a child brings the larger than life issue into perspective and hope this film will be a part of a wave that inspires the people to take action.

Australia is where we call home and it has an amazing array of wildlife and landscapes. Ironically, is it’s also where the ozone is thinnest. As such, stories like these really hit the heart as we try to preserve what is left of our beautiful home.
