The youth team at South Eastern Community Connect is running its first ever Short Filmmaking Festival on Friday 19th July.
We're inviting you to submit a short film following the theme of 'Healthy Choices or Negative Consequences' before Friday 12th July.
Winners will be announced at the conclusion of the festival, which will run from 6pm onwards at the SECC Community Hub: 1007 Botany Rd, Mascot on 19/7.
This is a chance for you to express your creativity and tell a captivating story as you connect meaningfully with your local community.

Terms and Conditions of Entry for the SECC Short Film Competition
1. Acceptance Information on how to enter forms part of the Terms and Conditions of
Entry. Entry into the Competition is deemed acceptance of these Terms and Conditions
of Entry.
2. Promoter: The promoter is South Eastern Community Connect (or SECC) (ABN 15 350 811 422) of Shop 84, Eastlakes Shopping Centre (02) 8338 8506
3. Time: The competition commences at 9am AEST on 4th June 2019 and
closes at 5pm (AEST) on 12th June 2019 (Closing Time). Entries received after the closing
time will not be accepted.
4. Eligibility: Entry is only open to Bayside Local Government Area (LGA) residents aged between the age of 12 and 18 (in 2019), excluding officers and employees of SECC and its immediate families. On request by SECC, an entrant must provide proof of their eligibility for entry.
5. Method of Entry: To enter, Eligible Entrants must, before the Closing Time (either with
other persons (if named on the Entry Form as entrants, Co-Entrants) or individually):
a. create a short film (in any style or genre, and shot in any format) that:
i. that creatively explores the theme of healthy choices or negative consequences
ii. is no more than 5 minutes long (excluding titles and credits);
iii. is in English or has English subtitles; and
6. Lost Entries: SECC accepts no responsibility for any late, lost, incorrectly
submitted, delayed, ineligible, incomplete, corrupted or misdirected entry whether due
to error or otherwise.
7. Use of Entries: By entering the Competition, each entrant:
a. grants an exclusive, transferable, irrevocable, perpetual, royalty-free licence to
SECC to use, publish, distribute, publicly display, edit and otherwise modify
and develop their entry (or any part of it) for any purpose (including without
limitation for the purposes of:
i. judging the entry under these Terms and Conditions of Entry;
ii. changing its form or content in any way;
iii. combining any part(s) of it with another entry or entries;
iv. broadcasting the entry;
v. distributing it to any person on DVD, through the internet and on and
through other media;
vi. screening it at any events, any educational courses or seminars and at
any educational institutions;
vii. posting and displaying it on the SECC website, the YouTube website
and other websites; and
viii. doing any of the above with a modified version of the entry or any part
of the entry);
8. Intellectual Property and Moral Rights By entering the Competition, each entrant:
a. in so far as is able, waives any rights of integrity of authorship (that is, to not
have a work subject to derogatory treatment), attribution of authorship and to
not have authorship of work falsely attributed, (collectively, Moral Rights), that
they may have in their entry;
b. voluntarily and unconditionally consents to all acts or omissions by SECC, its
sublicensees or other persons authorised by SECC which would, but for this
paragraph (b), infringe the entrant's Moral Rights in that entry;
c. warrants that all the music used in their entry is their original work or not subject
to copyright, or that they have obtained a worldwide licence for its use by SECC and its sublicensees on the internet and in public exhibition;
d. where music used in their entry is not their original work, agrees to provide, on
SECC's request, a copy of the licence referred to in paragraph (c) or
evidence to the satisfaction of SECC that the music is not subject to
copyright;
e. warrants that their entry (aside from music addressed by paragraph (c)) is an
original work of them and their Co-Entrants (if any) and that their entry
(including without limitation all music used in their entry) does not contain any
material that infringes any copyright, trademark, Moral Right or other the
intellectual property right of any person;
f. warrants that they have (and will retain) sufficient rights in the entry to effect
the grant of rights to the SECC under clauses 8(a) and (b); and
g. warrants that they have obtained the informed consent of and an appropriate
waiver from any other person that features in or was involved with the
production of the entry (including without limitation from the person's parent or
guardian where that person is aged under 18) in the form set out in Schedule 2.

10. Indemnity By entering the Competition, each entrant indemnifies SECC against
any losses, costs, expenses, damages or liabilities suffered or incurred by any person
(Losses) arising from:
a. any claim that the entrant's entry (or its use by any person in accordance with
these Terms and Conditions of Entry) infringes any copyright, trademark, Moral
Right or any other intellectual property right of any person; or
b. the entrant's breach of any of the warranties given by the entrant under these
Terms and Conditions of Entry.
11. Ineligibility SECC reserves the right to refuse to accept any entry:
a. that contains any material which is or reasonably likely to be defamatory,
obscene, offensive, contrary to standards of decency;
b. that has been submitted in bad faith; or
c. which SECC has reasonable grounds to believe infringes the intellectual
property rights (including the Moral Rights) of a third party.
12. Selection of Winners SECC will appoint a panel of judges who will select the two
best valid entries in their opinion based on the following criteria:
a. creativity and originality;
b. research and factual accuracy;
c. clear presentation and good understanding of the issues, and
d. how well the film reflects the brief of a film following the theme of Healthy Choices or Negative Consequences.
