Anna Sving is a Norwegian filmmaker born and raised in Oslo. She is at the very beginning of her career, having completed her film education in the spring of 2025, and is currently finishing her final year in England to obtain a bachelor’s degree in film production.
Anna has always been drawn to exploring internal questions of identity and how these shape our relationships with others. Her passion for storytelling began at a young age, fascinated by the way stories are portrayed on screen and how people from different backgrounds can connect and find unity through a shared narrative.
Reflection explores the pressure many people feel to adapt and perform, to wear masks in order to be accepted. The film is rooted in my own experience of losing myself by constantly trying to meet others’ expectations. A conversation with a close friend made me realize that true connection only happens when we dare to show who we really are, even if it means letting go of relationships that no longer fit.
The story follows Jan, a man who has spent years shaping himself to please everyone around him. As his inner unrest grows, he begins the painful but necessary process of reclaiming his identity.
Visually, Reflection uses mirrors, close‑ups, and contrasting warm and cold tones to express Jan’s emotional conflict. The sound design shifts between silence and intensity to mirror his journey toward authenticity.
At its core, Reflection is about finding the courage to remove the mask and rediscover who you truly are.
