Director Biography - Sean David Moody

Roots
Sean grew up in eastern Washington where he started playing guitar and recording his songs at 14. He was strongly influenced by the 1980’s punk-rock hardcore music scene and played the I-5 belt between Seattle and Portland. Sean studied music in Portland, OR where he started recording and producing local bands as well as playing in his own.

In 1993 Sean moved to San Francisco, California and signed as a songwriter with Chrysalis Music Group. His band Rooster brought San Francisco to its knees. Rooster played up and down the California coast. But playing California wasn’t enough. In 2003, Sean decided to pack up and leave cozy California to take his music to Europe.

UK
Sean moved to Brighton, UK and immediately started Jonny Quality. The band quickly became a Brighton hit. Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim) asked Sean to co-write a song on his upcoming album Palookaville along with a cast of others such as Bootsy Collins and Damon Albarn (Blur & Gorillaz.) Sean wrote and arranged “Long Way from Home,” signed with Skint Records and published with A-Songs Music Publishing (Chrysalis Music).

After the release of Palookaville, Jonny Quality supported Fatboy Slim on tour in the UK, Europe and the US. Sean also played guitar for Fatboy on countless radio and television programs including: MTV, The Conan O’Brien Show and The Jonathan Ross Show on the BBC. After a relentless tour schedule with Fatboy Slim, Sean packed up his guitars and set off to Italy.

Italy
While recording in the hills in central Italy, Sean started Daltonico Studios. Daltonico Studios, a songwriter’s paradise, is built in a 14th century farmhouse with a view of the mountains of Umbria. A studio designed for inspiration, Daltonico is a place where artists could get away from it all and write their next project. Besides recording various artists at Daltonico, Sean hosted and recorded various songwriting workshops for Chris Difford (ex-Squeeze). Although charmed by Italian life, Sean missed performing and recording his music. Sean again set out to make his own music. This time in Central Europe.

Prague, CZ
Sean came to Prague, Czech Republic. He quickly formed 5 Foot Assassins. The Assassins play all over central Europe, the UK and Ireland. Summer festivals were ablaze with Jonny’s Fender Telecaster sound. Sean was also a music critic for the Czech music television program Music Blok.

California
Sean currently lives in California where he still writes and records music and produces films.
