The Puppet Senior
In The Puppet Senior, George, a high school senior, discovers on graduation day that he’s missing essential requirements—\$500 in obligations, a perfect test score, and 100 service hours—and races against the clock to complete them in a series of absurd, comedic misadventures. From spit-take-prone parents to an overly intense librarian and a fed-up stream team advisor, George navigates escalating chaos with cartoon logic and meta-humor, only to learn in the end that none of it was actually necessary. The film parodies academic red tape and senior year stress with a sharp, self-aware comedic edge.

J.R. Mulhall is a Director, Editor, and Producer based in Orlando, Florida—soon heading to Gainesville to attend the University of Florida, where he’ll major in Media Production and Management (Go Gators). His work spans various media formats, with a strong emphasis on television, including public service announcements and short-form packages that blend information with personality.
Known for his comedic sensibility, J.R. draws inspiration from the legendary Norman Lear, infusing his projects with a sharp wit and a socially conscious edge. Currently interning at Orange TV—where he got his start back in high school—he continues to sharpen his production skills in a professional setting that already feels like home.
A senior at Dr. Phillips High School, J.R. is also the founder and CEO of Penguin Media Productions, a student-run production company with a growing portfolio. Under his leadership, Penguin Media has collaborated with Dr. Phillips High School, the school’s Center for International Studies magnet program, and stand-up comedian Tomas J. Kelly.
With experience that spans live events, scripted shorts, and community-focused media, J.R. is always on the lookout for stories that make people laugh, think, and maybe double-check if it’s satire.
