The Proposition

It's the year 1930. A newly divorced mother, Paula Webster, can't find a way to make ends meet. In the midst of the Great Depression, her lack of luck finding work leads a family friend, Jameson Hargrave, to approach her with a proposition. A man by the name of "Colonel" has just blown into town, and he is looking for a companion while he is there. Paula, a Sunday school teacher in practice and at heart, must battle with her morals and that of the city she lives in to make a decision that would come to define the next 40 years of her life. Based on a true story.

Director Statement

With this film, I wanted to give the viewer a small taste into the World that Paula dealt with each and every day. Her story is an incredible one, conquering her adversity and finding her own success in life, despite all that life had stacked against her. I hope to one day bring her story in its entirety to the screen.
