Inspired by William Carlos Williams' poem, "This Is Just to Say," "The Plums" is an understated comedy about a man who heads out in search of how to make it up to his wife after eating the plums she was saving in the freezer. It was shot on a cold day in April 2018, from the Brooklyn Bridge to the East Village, with my brother, Matteo in his first onscreen performance. Our cousin Mario Viele, of The Passengers, joined us for lunch and makes a cameo. Presented in classic black and white, with three different takes on George and Ira Gershwin's "But Not for Me," "The Plums" is a lovely stroll through New York City in the Spring.
