Experiencing Interruptions?

The Plan. Documentary. Part 2

Racial violence has distinctly been apart of American history since 1660. And even though each race and ethnicity were impacted by events, African Americans have been on the horrific side of things.
This month, there were more than a thousand protests worldwide. Some were peaceful. Others devolved into violence. All in due to the murder of George Floyd.
George Floyd was one of approximately 1,000 Americans killed annually by police, with a large percentage of whom, like Mr.Floyd, were African American.

With all of this going on, I find myself thinking heavily about our youth. We as the older people, are capable of initializing movements. While the youth is forced to watch. Even worse, they fall victim as a result of our actions.

Apart of this change that we preach about, has to involve the youth. Let’s protect them.

In LOVING MEMORY TO THE VICTIMS OF POLICE BRUTALITY, RACISM, VIOLENCE.

Director Biography - Kenny Mclemore

Kenny Mclemore is a musician, filmmaker, business owner from Brooklyn, New York. At 28 years old, these occupations became to correlate once he finally put his foot to the ground and dedicate to his craft. At the young age of 8, he was influenced by his big brother, Jaqcuel Ward. Who was in the music industry at the time, as a producer. Being around him as he made beats and wrote lyrics, was an influence to him. He noticed his little brother taking an interest and he slowly brought him along. He have been doing music ever since. Being a filmmaker is not something that he foreseen. Even though his entire life has been a movie. From his trials and errors, to his near dear experiences. Everything that he has been through, he was able to overcome it and understand the lesson. It wasn't until 2017, when he began to put his dreams on paper. That was followed by his expensive purchase of the iPhone X. It came with such a dope camera, incredible features, and editing tools. It was so convenient. It was like walking around with a production company in his pocket. He was able to create his first ever project in 2018 "D.O.D: The Documentary". He was also able to monetize his love for music by creating the soundtrack for the film. He created that project to display his journey, hard work and aspirations. At that point, he knew that this is the route that he was going. He carried that momentum all the way to his next project in 2019, which was a feature length film. "Pink Houses:My Story" In the midst of creating that film, he started his business "DreamHouses", which is a platform that allows dreamers of all kinds and from all places, to confide their trust & dreams, as well make plans to obtain those goals. In 2020, he produced, written, and recorded 3 EP's (DreamHouses the EP Vol 1,2,3) & filmed/produced two more films, "The Plan" & "The Message". Even though there is growth and promise from his projects, there is room for improvement. For he only records and edits on his iPhone. No crew, no equipment, no team. Just his dream and ambition. He has so much more to come.

Director Statement

I chose to direct this film because I had to make sure that this dream wasn't just that. I created this film to show that I had a plan to secure it. While watching this, I want the viewers to undergo a soul searching experience. I want them to see this and ask themselves, "what is it that I have to do to be where I need to be?" One of the few challenges that I faced in directing this documentary, was learning about black history. Becoming educated on "Black Wall Street". Watching videos of how successful and prominent black people were in the early 1900's, before it was all stripped away. Also at the time of filming this, there were riots and protests, thousands dying daily due to a pandemic, millions of jobs lost. It was a lot to endure in the process of making this film. I was inspired by my ancestors to create this film. For we are their wildest dreams. Working with Ms. Yasnaya Pena was a pleasure. She interviewed me in this film, and was able to spark the intensity and add depth to the content provided. By speaking of her past experiences, displaying her wisdom, and being passionate with the opportunity, she elevated the film. Being able to have my community apart of the film is always a blessing. People get to see a side of the projects that they weren't sure existed. And it is an honor to be able to provide it. I was not fortunate enough to have worked with a crew. Nor did I have any top of the line cameras, sound systems, microphones. I had one cameraman "Marshall Fauntleroy" and I am grateful that he was able to assist. I do all of my recording and editing for my films on my iPhones. This film will always be special to me because, I was able to release it on my birthday. Everything fell right in line and just the way that I planned it. The experience I've garnered from this film was insurmountable. I was able to prove to myself that I am able to get better even with not having much. As long as I remain dedicated, humble, willing, and confident, then I am able to make it happen. Everything else that I need, will come. A dream is fun to have, but to be able to create a plan in order to achieve it, is life changing. A change that I am looking to bring.
