Hailing from Co. Down, N. Ireland, Rik had been interested in making films from a young age. Side tracked into business when he left school, Rik, with persuasion from his peers, got back into film making and in September 2013 started studying an MA film making course at Kingston University, London where he graduated in January 2015. In November 2015, Rik completed his first ambitious short film 'The Pigman' which has gone on to be screened in festivals worldwide and winning the 'Audience Award for Best Short' at the prestigious Dingle International Film Festival.
After finishing University in January 2015, Rik, with the help of his Co-Producer, Sarah Laura Hauenstein, decided to make 'The Pigman'; a script he wrote intentionally for his dissertation but was deemed too ambitious.
Using his own funds, some money raised through IndieGoGo and the help of the Felix Mater Society, filming began in May 2015. The small crew was made up of friends met at University that were willing to travel to N. Ireland and family members. The very international crew consisted of Swiss, Taiwanese, Iranian, Czech, Bulgarian and Australian members.
Filming took place over a very short 5 days. The film was entirely shot outdoors.
After a long editing and post-production process the film was completed in November 2015.
