The Party

Written and Directed by Jacqueline Tooley & Kym O’BrienAurora’s having a party, and you’re invited! In an homage to vintage movies, this short film made entirely on iPhone XS Max during a pandemic lockdown, The Party is a lighthearted kitschy look at how even with the most thorough preparation, things don’t always go to plan.

Director Biography - Jacqueline Tooley, Kym O'Brien

Jacqueline Tooley

Jacqueline is a writer and director whose creative expression began in the ballet studio at 5 years of age, exploring opera, musical theatre and classical music before finally landing in the world of film. Raised on a cattle farm, she spent her teenage years devouring all the old MGM movie musicals she could get her hands on (can you say Busby Berkeley).

Jacqueline’s previous theatre credits include Made in Dagenham, Kinky Boots (Adelphi Theatre, London), Mary Poppins (New Amsterdam Theatre, NYC), Joseph & the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, Oliver! (Seymour Centre, Sydney), and Oedipus Schoedipus (Belvoir St Theatre).

Jacqueline’s previous film credits include The Party (18 Maiden Lane Productions), and Florence Foster Jenkins (20th Century Fox).

Kym O'Brien

Originally from England and Ireland, Kym has been watching and making films since she could walk. Her very first film Big Rabbit and Russ’ Big Adventure played too great acclaim in her Grandparents’ living room.

Kym’s theatre credits include The Rat Pack, Love Never Dies, One Man, Two Governors, Sweeney Todd, The Bodyguard, Made in Dagenham and Kinky Boots (Adelphi Theatre).

Kym’s film and television credits include Spectre (Columbia Pictures), Jamie Oliver’s Christmas (Sainsbury’s), and The Party (18 Maiden Lane Productions).
