I am SIRAJE SERUNJOGI, a multi-talented Ugandan, with passion for creative arts and film. I am a graduate of BSc. Visual Communication in Electronic Media from Bharathiar University, Coimbatore, India (2022).
I produced and directed my first independent film “Byampuna” in 2012, a 48 hours challenge project “The bet” in the Uganda Film Festival 2014. Was the Assistant Director for “My rising sun”, and Produced “Blind lover” in 2014. I Directed and Produced PSAs “The Silent killer”, “The Handful” and “The Seedling” in 2020 and A documentary “The Pandemic” in 2021 in India respectively. Recently, I have directed and produced “Lugonda majja” a short film and a feature film “Nina-the wicked sister” in September and November 2023 respectively.
I have also directed peoples’ projects like; “Ensi Minzani” and “Kikopo family” both series , “Nesige ani”, and “Kijja Mpola” both feature movies, Music videos and TV Commercials as well between 2022 and 2023.
I have written both religious and academic books; “Elements of film production”, “Amasanyu g’enyonyi”, “Women in islam”, “Okwejanjaba amajinni ne Ruquya”, and currently working on “Acting for film”, and “Scriptwriting for beginners”
Film is founded on sophisticated theoretical approaches to the communication and reception of meaning by the audience.
As a director, my aim is to educate and entertain the world through storytelling. Such stories come from the ground and we have to tell them in order to correct where society goes wrong.
Am glad for being part of this festival. The pandemic is my first documentary film, and hope it quenches the observatory bit of the viewers in it.
