Malachi knew he wanted to make films after Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace changed his life at the age of six. He enjoys making movies as much as he loves watching them, and loves to find magic and meaning within the stories he brings to the screen.
A visual storyteller at heart, Carl started shooting homemade music videos at the age of 12, with a few failed skateboarding videos still lying around YouTube. During his time in RTA, Carl has found himself shooting, editing and producing works that have premiered on CBC, Toronto Short Film Festival, and more.
The Ones Who Wilt is a film about grief, created by people who are trying to understand what that means. I've felt grief, but in the death of friendships, and of bonds. Wilt is about the forging and breaking of bonds. It's also about anticipating death, waiting for the day that it hits you like a truck and what you tell yourself to try to stop it from coming.
Those feelings and thoughts are what we tapped into to bring this story to life, and we hope you like it.
