Laura C. is an eclectic American filmmaker who got her start doing short films while attending UCLA. An only child, she grew up a latchkey kid and spent many years in front of a television. That would be the foundation for what would later become a passion and her reason for moving to California to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. Upon arrival in California, Laura spent time as a production assistant, set dialogue coach, actress, and many other roles. At first, it seemed acting would be her craft, but while on set she noticed being behind the camera was a lot more fun. She began working as an acting coach and found helping others with character discovery to be a great joy. Building worlds and bringing a project from script to screen is a fascination that she feels will never get old. As the filmmaker explains, “It's so cool to have something go from being an idea in your head to a few months later see it all playing out on screen.” While focusing on her studies as an African American Studies major at UCLA, an awakening happened. She began to take note of the racial injustices and biases that plagued this country and developed scripts and films that embodied the racial and systemic injustices that currently have a chokehold on the US. Her stories provide both education and entertainment. Laura currently resides in Los Angeles, California and loves traveling and connecting with people.
