The Mourning (2023)

After a brief encounter with her brother at a grassy field, Ana arrives at her apartment alone with a small urn. She
ignores calls from her brother, Miguel, and has trouble eating and falling asleep before she hears scratching on the
walls of her home. Upon inspecting, she finds her kitchen a mess and food flying around without reason.
The next morning, Miguel comes over to check it out but claims no trace of an intruder. Ana declines
Miguel requests to stay and attempts to clean the messy kitchen herself but finds a reminder of her loss in the form
of a small pink blanket. She tries to throw it away, but cannot. Instead, she falls asleep with it.
Ana wakes up that night to an invisible force attempting to steal the pink blanket from her grasp. She follows it until
she sees a new mess in her living room made by a supernatural being. She makes the assumption that it is her
recently deceased pet dog, Bella, and tries to lure her onto her lap with the pink blanket. The two fall asleep
together until Ana is woken up again by the scratching noise at her front door. After a brief tug of war with
the pink blanket, she bumps her elbow on the mantle holding the urn and it falls to the floor.
Ana realizes that Bella is just trying to go outside, which she has neglected. She lets go in the form of
grabbing her pet’s old leash and reconvenes with Miguel at the field, where she lets go of the ashes so Bella can
rest eternally in her favorite spot.
