The Moth in My Window

When a moth comes into my window, it invites me on a journey to reflect about myself, itself, and the relations between us as creatures. As I captured it in my camera, I explored different ways to represent this special bond that shared during our brief encounter.

Director Biography - Azalia Muchransyah

Azalia Muchransyah is a filmmaker, writer, and scholar from Indonesia. She is a Ph.D. Candidate in Media Study at University at Buffalo (SUNY), funded by the DIKTI Fulbright Scholarship. In 2021, she won first place in UB's Three-Minute Thesis Competition. She is also the Host and Producer for The Baldy Center for Law & Social Policy Podcast, a bi-weekly podcast where she interviews scholars about their interdisciplinary research topics. Muchransyah's research investigates the status of activist media, specifically for HIV advocacy in Indonesia. I made this film as part of a 48-hours filmmaking challenge and I decided to create an experimental video about a moth in my window along with the internal reflection that happened during our brief encounter.
