Nick Julio Siahaan, born in 1993 in Samarinda, started his career as a script continuity supervisor for the soap opera "Tukang Bubur Naik Haji." In 2015, he took a film course at KPU Sinematografi, now known as Citra Film School. After working as a freelancer on several video projects, advertisements, and wedding videography, he returned to Citra Film School as staff and began teaching there. In 2020, he founded a film community called Galerien Films, which has since become a production company.
The phenomenon of sandal theft in mosques is a common occurrence in lower-income communities. Driven by various reasons ranging from economic factors to prestige, this behavior has seemingly become normal. However, there is also another common issue highlighted in this film: the abuse of power by those in authority to achieve their desires. In this film, these two events are brought together to show how problems originating from the lower classes are arrogantly resolved by those above them. Additionally, this film aims to convey the message that we should not justify what is usual, but rather normalize what is right.
